Episode #5 of Infinite Shuffle!
Hello! I actually have a pretty packed few weeks. With Fumble Dimension and other short projects to work on, I have a lot on my plate. But will we cut corners? Hell no! LETโS GET TO THE MUSIC!
Artists of the week: Santino Le Saint
This London artist has a great voice and really speaks to me with his lyrics about heartbreak, sad boy shit, and wanting to be a rockstar. I could see him in the future on a worldwide song where everyone is like โWHO IS THIS GUY? HEโS KILLING IT!โ. There are many different elements that you hear in his music. Some hip hop, some rock, and some R & B. In an interview (that I suggest you check out) he listed influences that transcend across multiple genres and you can tell by his dope music and our Project of the Week!ย
Projects of the week: Rage Of Angels (2020)
A great thing I love about this project is that Santino Le Saint lets every beat get its shine at the beginning. I know a lot of artists do this and this is a completely normal thing but with Le Saint, every intro vibe is beautiful and unique and I think for this project it is necessary because every song is a new experience. An experience tailored specifically to him because he produced every song on this album except for โCall you when I get home".
His music videos are also very elite.
I hope that he gets all the recognition he deserves down the road.
Now here are your songs of the week.
Ariana Grande feat Childish Gambino - Break Your Heart Right Back
I know what youโre thinking. Who is Ariana Grande? Just kidding. This song is on the list because I canโt for the life of me understand why this song wasnโt pushed out more at the time. We got โProblemโ with Iggy Azalea and โLove Me Harderโ with The Weeknd, making Break Your Heart Right Back underrated by default. You will see more Ariana Grande in future newsletters, she has one of the best voices of all time and must be protected at all costs.
Spillage Village - Baptizeย
This powerhouse collective dropped this as the single for their upcoming album โSpilligionโ and good god the beat goes crazy. JID and Earthgang have some of the best chemistry in the industry. Itโs one of those songs where you see the Youtube comment โWhen everyone does their job on the group project.โ and you look at your computer or phone and go โCorrectโ.
THIS ALBUM ABOUT TO GO SO HARD.
Sam Tompkins (feat Jaykee) - Faded
This UK track comes from Sam Tompkins who pairs so well with rapper Jaykee. I first heard Jaykee from the โTake Me Back To London (Remix)โ with Aitch, Ed Sheeran and Stormzy.
Like Le Saint, Tompkinsโ music can go from catchy hip-pop one song to an absolute ballad-like track the next. Heโll be a future artist of the week for sure.
Raz Fresco - In the Zone
The Toronto product dropped this in 2012 off the album Cakey Pocket$. Ever so often I come back to this album and bask in the elite production and Frescoโs fresh flows. I canโt locate the sample for this song but itโs incredible. The samples all this project are really damn good and they make this project timeless.
DWN2EARTH - Jodeci
I first heard DWN2EARTH on a collaboration with 24hrs called โMadonnaโ, he then fell off my personal radar until I heard him again on the Logic song โOCDโ and I put 2 and 2 together later down the road like Channing Tatum in 22 Jump Street.
In finding his solo music, I heard a style that sounds so different from the Logic and 24hrs song. Jodeci is the first solo song I heard and I immediately added everything else of his to my library. The chill laid back vibes are perfect for trying to go to sleep or calming down. This man can SING.
Sample of the week: Forget me Nots - Patrice Rushen
The CLASSIC 1980s jam by Patrice Rushen will forever carry on in history. Either as the original or as the sample for the Will Smith song โMen in Blackโ. I know Will Smithโs clean bars because a meme on Family Guy, but this man was in his bag on Men in Black you canโt deny that. A movie where Will Smith saves the universe with his dance moves and sunglasses.*ย
*Itโs been a while I forgot the plot.
Have I sung this at Karaoke? Canโt remember to be honest. Itโs on the list though.ย
'โForget me notsโ was also sampled on the Yung Gravy anthem โForget me thotsโ
Hereโs what the archive looks like now! We almost have 2 hours worth of music on there already! Take what you like and feel free to share this with your homies!
